ALTERATIONS FAQS

Are alterations included with the purchase of a wedding gown?

No, alterations are not included with the purchase of your gown.

When should I start regular alterations?

We recommend starting alterations 3-6 months before your wedding.

When should I start custom alterations?

If you are planning on having custom work done to your dress, such as adding sleeves, we would recommend starting at least 6 months before your wedding.

How much do alterations cost?

We have found that the typical dress needs the following  alterations: shortening straps, adding cups, letting out or taking in through the bust/waist/hip, hemming, and adding a bustle. Having these items done typically cost between $400-450. Like we said, this is what most dresses need done, but not every dress. This is why we charge based on what needs to be done to the gown.

How many fittings will I have?

For regular alterations we usually allow for 3 fittings. For custom alterations you will have more, depending on what needs to be done to your dress.

How long are appointments?

Our alteration appointments are one hour long.

I've lost or gained weight. How will this affect alterations?

By the time alterations start, the bride should be at her goal or close to it. If the bride loses weight during alterations we will adjust the gown accordingly, this may incur an additional fee.

What should I bring to the fitting?

Please bring the shoes, undergarments and any other accessories that you're planning on wearing on your wedding day. If you don't have the exact shoes please bring a pair that have a similar heel height.

Who should I bring to the fitting?

You are more than welcome to bring a friend or family member with you! Due to COVID we ask that you bring no more than one guest with you.

When do I pay for alterations?

After your first fitting you will put down a non-refundable deposit that will be credited on your final bill. Alterations will need to be paid in full when the gown is picked up.

When do I bring my dress home?

Your dress will be steamed and ready to be picked up at least two weeks before your wedding. This is something we can set up at your second appointment.

Is there a rush fee?

If your dress needs to be altered in 2 months there will be a $75 rush fee. If it needs to be altered in one month there will be a $150 rush fee. A RUSH option is only available if our seamstress' schedule allows for it.
